Mission:

Nazdeek, meaning “to be close” in Urdu, is a legal capacity building organization committed to bringing access to justice closer to marginalized communities in India.  Nazdeek partners with grassroots activists and lawyers to build community-based legal networks to increase accountability in the protection of social and economic rights. Leveraging the power of local and transnational networking, we work with communities in developing tools to demand and secure justice.

 

Objective:
 –      Increase access to social and economic justice for poor and marginalized communities in India.

–       Promote justice from a strong gender lens.

–       Assist in developing strategic legal interventions at the local, state and national level.

–       Harness the power of organizing, communications, and legal advocacy to increase community            participation in demanding justice.

–       Strengthen regional exchange on effective implementation strategies.

–       Involve young people in human rights advocacy.

–       Create a sustainable path for human rights activists to engage in local justice efforts.
